Alpine Cattle Drives in the Region
in September 2026
As summer in the mountains comes to an end and the leaves start to change color, one of the most cherished traditions in Tyrol begins: the Almabtrieb. During this spectacular event, beautifully adorned cows return from the lush alpine pastures to the valley, marking the end of the grazing season.
Decorating the cattle is a symbol of a safe and successful summer on the alpine meadows. The most outstanding lead cows receive a traditional "Stafel" as a sign of distinction. This deeply rooted cultural event is a feast for the senses, offering visitors a chance to experience authentic Tyrolean customs in a festive setting.
